The Accused:
Miguel Oquendo,
Description:

This person who called himself a mechanic, charged me $1,450.00 to replace the engine of my car. He had the car in his house for three months and call frequently asking for money for parts and labor. After all that time calling him and going to his house to check if the car was ready; he couldn' fix it. He kept the money and the car still not running. He never replace the engine, now I know that he didn't know how to fix cars at all. I went to the courthouse to find out If I can do something about It, but to pursuit the case I got to put more money, money that I dont have. I have receipts for the money and parts with his signature on it.

If you can't afford a lawyer, then small claims court may be a good option for you to consider. The Judge will listen to each of you, and will probably ask many questions, before rendering a decision. Your mechanic will probably have to provide some good reasons to the Judge for the repair work taking so long, among other things.

You should probably also file a police report.

Make sure you get a lawyer's opinion before proceeding with any of these suggestions.
