Dennis Ponders had completed 1 1/2 years when Marian Fladland Pickens County Drug Court Treatment Provider suggested to help him with his work schedule that he leave the rehab facility that he was attending and move into an apartment in her basement. She told him she wanted to open a small 5 bed rehab for men and said that if interested he could help her to operate in and be there to support the men in the program. In a short time of his move Dennis realized this was not right. The truth is Mary moved him in to have sexual relations. Dennis soon became sickened by the arrangement and started saying no. This wasnt exceptable and and angered her. Even though it was a long 6 months Dennis completed his 2 years. But had not had his actual graduation ceremony which is a requirement with the drug court program. And with only a couple of weeks to spare and him refusing to be intimate Marian packed him up and moved him out with no notice. She said someone reported him not at the rehab and she was questioned about where he was. She claimed she had no idea. Because of this they issued a warrant for Dennis. She denied any contact or sexual relations and the drug court officers threatened to place charges against him for lying against a drug court agent. Finally someone opened there eyes. However Marian has never been disiplined for her actions. She also owns 2 rehab facilities in other counties. The officials of Pickens County say they are working on the case but it seems real simple. The definition of sexual assault is as follows A person commits sexual assault when such person has supervisory or disciplinary authority over another person and such person engages in sexual contact with that other person who is: In the custody of law; or Detained in or is a patient in a hospital or other institution.
Marian fladland preys upon vulnerable people Dennis is one of many that were sexually assaulted by this care provider. One didnt live to tell his side. Many are coming forward now to tell similar things she has done to them. There is more to this story than I can begin to tell you. But I can say she belongs in jail not Dennis. He is still sitting in Pickens County Jail now. He was not taken to his last court date. His assigned drug court lawyer refuses to come see him and he got a letter saying that they were revoking his sentence. So two years down the drain and two more to be served. Marian Fladland is guilty of sexual assault and should be punished.
