Friends Revealed App Spammed all of my Facebook Friends

Description:

On my Facebook wall the other day, someone had posted a "Friends Revealed" post. The post said that this person had answered several questions about me. Of course, as the folks "Friends Revealed" want you to do, I clicked on the app. I was asked to download the app to my Facebook. It was Friday, so I said, sure. I can always delete it later if it's too spammy. Little did I know that this little App would, in a matter of minutes, spam every single one of my over 950 Facebook friends with posts saying I had answered questions about them - even though I had done no such thing. This app is EVIL. I can't believe it told my 52 year-old ex-boss and mentor and my preacher that I had answered whether or not I thought they were a virgin. This is flat-out libel, not to mention impersonation. In Texas, impersonating someone on the internet is a criminal offense. Perhaps the Texas State Attorney General should look at both Facebook, who allows this app to exist in their system, as well as the folks at "Friends Revealed". Perhaps I should have my attorney look into it as well. I searched for contact information for "Friends Revealed" and could find none. If anyone has contact info, please let me know. I have some papers I may want to serve them. Tony Wright

I agree that applications like this are intrusive and destructive to your online account as well as your local computer. We can't go around expecting laws and regulations to fix these issues. The applications and social engineering will just get better. What we need are better USERS! People need to take a little time and use a best judgement call when using any application or service on the Internet or on a computer. To blame the computer, applications and the people who wrote them is not propper. I dont at all believe in these types of apps or scams, but I do believe that everyone is capable of learning how to avoid these issues. If you can tie your shoes, pass a drivers license test, cook dinner, or wake up each morning to go to work, I dont think it's much to as that you understand the tool your using (The Internet and a Computer). That's my two cents.

Well just like buyer beware, I think the same applies with Facebook applications. It's a crap thing to do but you've got no legal recourse for any such actions as you agreed (that little box you have to check when it asks) to let it have access to your profile and information when you installed it. You just learned an embarassing lesson is all and now you know better and won't allow apps to have full access to your profile information.

Lose your facebook profile and your life will be less dramatic and you won't have to deal with people like Ex's, Kids you hated in High School who now wanna know how you are.

My Last Straw is when I was contacted by an ex from 25 years ago, whom was stolen from me by an asshole who is now a Philadelphia Cop.. When she writes me, I responded like a fucking idiot. I told he that I hope that the fella mentioned dropped dead, That's when she told me she married him and had 3 kids, Then a Fight between 2 actors (Myself and a man named Kyle Green) Mr Green called mr a wimp and posted it on my wall... It was nice to confront him with kindness last xmas when he was playing Santa, I just said, Remember Me Fucker!! Mall Security was called and was escorted out of Macy's... You should have seen the look on his face, PRICELESS, Was not expecting to see me he was not...

FACEBOOK IS BULLSHIT AND AN INVASION OF PRIVACY, STOP HANDING OVER YOUR LIVES TO BIG BROTHER, Live Under The Radar, just make sure you have cash as jobs will be hard to get as employers want you to have facebooks, Spacey Face, Bebo.

Just venting abour Social Networking Sites.

Your post SCREAMS fraud. It's clear to me that you THOUGHT your little comments would be anonymous, when in fact, they were not. Too little, too late. People who threaten to 'sue' over such ridiculous nonsense are RED FLAGS, waving in the face of ethical people, who would NEVER throw their "FRIENDS" under the bus like you did.

ASSHOLE.

As of today, 5/3/10, this person's Facebook profile is listed as the developer of the Friends Revealed & Exposed application.
